Chef Bios
There are many restaurants which employ a good Head Chef. However even the best Head Chef’s take time off and the issue then becomes ensuring consistency of product; customers rightly expect the same high standard of food whenever they visit the restaurant. Restaurant 65 at Harestock Lodge Hotel is able to boast three very experienced and highly respected chefs. As a result, our customers can rest assured not only the menus presented to them have been thoroughly considered, the quality of food and presentation will be consistently high whenever they visit the restaurant ensuring a fine dining experience everytime.

Brief biographies of our Chefs are as follows:




Melvin Speed


Head Chef Melvin Speed's passion for cooking stems from being raised in St Lucia, West Indies where the use of fresh, local produce in food preparation is the norm. After moving to the UK and obtaining formal catering qualifications at Hammersmith College London, Melvin enhanced his work experience through working for the Hilton Group of hotels in both London and Paris and for the Paten Group of hotels in the south coast of England.

Julia Kelly


Julia is an accomplished chef having headed up the kitchens of many of the financial institutions in the City of London before becoming a catering lecturer at Southampton College. She has also successfully led teams and coached individual chefs to give exhibitions and compete in national catering competitions.

Kevin Kelly


Kevin has worked in London as a chef at various prestigious kitchens, cooking for royalty, heads of Government and celebrities. He has also held senior positions within Sodexho Catering & Facility management in various locations and obtained experience in hotel management at a hotel in Cyprus.
